At today’s Volunteering Tasmania Digital Conference, the Tasmanian Premier Peter Gutwein MP announced additional funding over three years to support Volunteering Tasmania.

The funding will help the organisation reach out and support volunteers across Tasmania, to ensure that community programs, services and activities in Tasmania are able to continue to function, with their help.

Volunteering Tasmania will also begin a Volunteer Engagement Project that will work to understand the needs of volunteers, the barriers they encounter, and how to best reconnect with volunteers during our COVID recovery.

The new funding will also go towards a Volunteer Management Innovation Program to help volunteering organisations adapt their operations in a COVID world, to recruit, and manage a more flexible workforce – and support a new generation of volunteers.

“During these challenging times, it is more important than ever to celebrate, acknowledge and thank all Tasmania’s volunteers.

We can’t operate our State without our volunteering network and on behalf of the Tasmanian Government I would like to take the opportunity to thank them all.”
