What membership type is best for me?
We offer three types of membership: individual, organisational and corporate.
- Individual membership is for people with an interest in volunteering and a passion for supporting the volunteering sector.
- Organisational membership is for organisations that engage volunteers or are involved in the sector.
- Corporate membership is for businesses and government agencies that are currently operating, or have an interest in developing, volunteering among their workforce.

Are you a Peak Body looking for a membership option with VT?
Volunteering Tasmania would love to discuss options with you! There are two options that sit under our Peak Body Membership, including Umbrella or Reciprocal Memberships as outlined below. Please contact us to arrange a discussion.
Umbrella: If your Peak Body is a representative body for clubs, houses, or member organisations, this may be a good option for you. Includes ability for member access across your network to VT offerings (forums, volunteer recognition certificates, training, advocacy engagement, best practice volunteer management support), one vote held by the Peak Body at our AGMs and member voting opportunities. Pricing is based on the size of your network.
Reciprocal: If your Peak Body has a values alignment with VT, and offers reciprocal benefits between your organisation and ours, this membership option may be best for you. Includes ability for your immediate organisation (not inclusive of your network/member organisations) to access VT offerings (forums, volunteer recognition certificates, training, advocacy engagement, best practice volunteer management support) and one vote held by your immediate organisation at our AGMs and member voting opportunities.

Life Membership
Life Member – Any person honoured by VT for meritorious and exceptional service to VT through volunteer effort. The Board may recommend to a General Meeting of Members that a person or persons be made Life Members. The Members in the General Meeting may resolve to accept the recommendation whereupon the person or persons shall become Life Members. Life Members have all the rights of Members but shall be exempt from paying membership fees. VT Constitution 5.1(d)
Nominations are considered annually. Nomination period is open following each Annual General Meeting. Nominations will be considered by the VT Board in the September Board meeting each year, and should a successful candidate be identified, Life Membership will be announced at the Annual General Meeting in October each year.

Eligibility criteria:
- Specific to service provided to Volunteering Tasmania as an Organisation.
- Open to persons that have contributed significantly through volunteering. Employees are eligible for contributions made outside of their employment role, through official and recognised volunteering appointments.
- ‘Meritorious and exceptional service’ can also be understood as: outstanding and exceptional contributions which have significantly impacted the outcomes of VT, in context of the Strategic Plan.
