Volunteering Tasmania is the peak body for volunteering in Tasmania, representing the interests of all Tasmanians involved in volunteering through community engagement programs and services, advocacy, research and policy development.

Seeking Directors to join Volunteering Tasmania.
We are inviting skilled and committed people who want to make a difference to the Volunteering sector to express an interest in joining our Board of Directors.
Board role: The Volunteering Tasmania Board provides governance and strategic leadership to the organisation.
To complement our existing Board, we are looking for individuals with one or more of the following skillsets: Government Relations, Philanthropy, Commercial Experience, IT Strategy and data governance, and Financial Performance.
Additionally, we are seeking to appoint the role of Treasurer, and welcome people with this specific skill set to apply.
Directors actively contribute via Membership of either the Finance, Risk and Audit Committee, or the Governance Committee.
Experience: We encourage those with or without Board experience to apply. We will provide additional support and development opportunities to those without significant Board experience.

Meetings and time commitment: The Board meets four times per year on average with active Board committees that meet regularly in addition to this. Applicants should have the ability to commit around 5-10 hours per month to Director duties. Board and Committee meetings are held both in-person in Hobart and online.
Payment: Nil – this is a voluntary role. Pre-approved reasonable travel and accommodation expenses incurred to attend meetings or other Board duties will be reimbursed.

Application submissions:
If you wish to nominate for the role of Board Director, please provide a covering letter outlining your interest in the role and the personal qualities you would bring to the position, along with a curriculum vitae that outlines your skills and experience. This information will be utilised by the Board, to then seek individual nominations from suitably qualified candidates. Successful candidates will be provided with a request to officially nominate by completing a Nomination for Board of Directors form. An election may be required in accordance with the number of suitable candidates for election. The information provided will be utilised as part of the election process (if required).
