Tasmanian Volunteering Awards 2023
1. General information
- Entry is free
- Nominations close at midnight, Monday, 6 March 2023
- Finalists will be announced during the week commencing 17 April 2023, with the awards presented on Friday, 19 May 2023
- Self-nominations are accepted
- Nominations that are incomplete or not received by the due date will not be accepted
- A person can only be nominated for one award category
- A maximum of three finalists for each category will be chosen by an independent judging panel
2. General eligibility for all awards
- The nominator must know the nominee and have their approval before submission
- Nominators may nominate a family member
- The nominee(s) must be residing in Tasmania
- The voluntary activities must have occurred in Tasmania and for the benefit of Tasmania and Tasmanians
- The volunteering activities must have occurred within the Award period of April 2022 to March 2023
- The primary organisation the voluntary work was undertaken with must approve the nomination
- It is expected that nominees who are chosen as finalists will attend the awards ceremony
- Volunteering Tasmania staff and volunteers (including the Board) and their immediate family members are not permitted to nominate people for any awards or be nominated for an award
2.a. Eligibility for Individual Award Categories
- Nominations can only be for an individual person
2.b. Eligibility for the Best Practice in Volunteer Management Award
- To be eligible for this award, the nominee must have supervised one or more volunteers during the 2023 Award period (April 2022 – March 2023)
- The Manager may have undertaken this supervision in a paid or voluntary capacity
2.c. Eligibility for Lifetime Achievement Award
- The nominee must have undertaken voluntary activities in Tasmania for a minimum of 25 years in total
- The nominee must have been an active volunteer during the 2023 award period of April 2022 to March 2023
2.d. Eligibility for Youth Award
- Nominee must be under 25 years of age as of 1 March 2023
- The nominee must have been an active volunteer during the 2023 award period of April 2022 to March 2023
2.e. Eligibility for Volunteer Group or Program of the Year
- Organisations or staff can self-nominate
- Eligible volunteer groups or programs may be managed by a paid or volunteer coordinator
- All volunteer group or program activities must be undertaken by volunteers
3. Media Permissions
- All nomination information, photos and supporting materials collected during the process may be used and distributed by Volunteering Tasmania for media and promotional purposes
- Volunteering Tasmania is not liable for any misuse or damage that may result from the use of any photography or information provided by the nominator or nominee to Volunteering Tasmania
4. Nominees under 18 years old
- All nominees under the age of 18 years old must have the parental/guardian consent component of the nomination form completed
- Volunteering Tasmania reserves the right to confirm consent with the nominees’ parent or guardian
